Caring Ministry

Look after yourselves and everyone the Holy Spirit has placed in your care. Be like shepherds to God's church. It is the flock that he bought with the blood of his own Son. (Acts 20:28; Contemporary English Version)

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' (Matthew 25:35-36; Today's New International Version)

Volunteers

We are always in need of caring individuals to help us with our many Caring Ministries.  If you are interested in becoming a part of one of our ministries, contact Rev. Rosemary Dubois.

Cancer Network

A group of Cancer Survivors offer physical, emotional and spiritual support to individuals (and their families) throughout the community who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Caregiver Support Group

Do you need ideas on how to ensure the best quality of life for yourself as a caregiver?  Would you like to share resources and ideas on how best to care for that special person?  This support group gives you a place where you can build relationships with others who understand your concerns.  Find out more...

Community Caring

Caring individuals can provide: meals for those who have been ill or have experienced a death in the family; short term transportation for doctor visits; and short term sitting for ill members who need assistance

Grief Support

When we learn that a family has experienced the loss of a loved one they are contacted to determine how their church family can help during this difficult time. "Journeying through Grief” a series of 4 books is sent to each family over the period of a year. Each booklet shows a griever what to expect, shares practical ideas for working through grief, and provides the hope that they won't always hurt as intensively.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer requests may be submitted to our prayer teams through our website (www.friendswoodumc.com/prayers), on Sunday mornings by using the tear off Ministry Information Form in the bulletin, by calling the church office 281.482.7535 during the week or by leaving a written request at the Prayer Chapel.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The shawls and blankets are prayed over while they are created and then blessed by the pastors in a worship service before they are sent out into the community to those who are facing difficult situations. The shawls serve as tangible evidence that God is with us.

Quilting Ministry

Quilts are given to those in the church and community in their time of need as a representation of the prayers lifted up on their name.
