Backpack Buddy Program
Friendswood UMC, in partnership with the Houston Food Bank, distributes food assistance to children in the Friendswood/ClearCreek ISD by providing basic food items for consumption on the weekend through the Backpack Buddy program.
Backpacks of Blessing
Each school year, Friendswood UMC collects and distributes, in the Friendswood/Clear Creek ISD, backpacks filled with basic school supplies to school children in grades K-12. In 2009, over 200 students received the spplies needed to begin the school year with a great start.
Christmas JOY
Christmas JOY is our annual Christmas Party for those families in need of assistance. Dressed in a party atmosphere, deserving families receive food and general subsistance assistance as well as Christmas gifts and a Christmas meal.
Disaster Relief
In partnership with UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) and Disaster Recovery ministries, Friendswood UMC provides assistance to those who have been affected by various natural disasters, both in the United States and Internationally.
Food Pantry
Food assistance is available for individuals or families that demonstrate need in this area. Individuals and families that reside in the Friendswood / South Pearland / West League City areas are eligible for food assistance. Such assistance is available through the Food Pantry Ministry which is open during the regular business hours of the church.
Meals on Wheels
In partnership with Meals on Wheels, Friendswood UMC provides the servants that deliver hot meals on week (Mon-Fri) every 6-weeks to those who are unable to prepare such meals themselves.
Tender Loving Care (TLC)
This ministry provides financial assistance with utilities and/or housing for those in financial emergency situations.
Thanksgiving Baskets
This annual ministry for those in need of food assistance shares the blessings of the seaeson by prviding food and traditional Thanksgiving food items to families in the area.
